Itzel Barreto

Spanish Nursery, Head Teacher

Itzel holds a MA in Bilingual and Special Education from Hunter College. She has been teaching for 5 years in PreKindergarten and Kindergarten settings.

Mayte Mora

Spanish Nursery, Assistant Teacher

Mayte holds a MA in Spanish Literature from Brooklyn College. She has worked as an assistant teacher for the past seven years.

Bouchra Welch-Hooper

French Nursery, Head Teacher

Bouchra has over nine years of classroom teaching experience with Preschool and Elementary children. Bouchra holds a BA in Language and Literature.

Elizabeth Harkins

French Nursery, Assistant Teacher

Elizabeth holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Colgate University. Elizabeth has experience counseling and teaching in elementary schools.

Rosa Torres

Spanish PreKindergarten, Head Teacher

Rosa holds a BA in Early Childhood Education and is working on her MA in Education at Hunter College. She has been teaching at ISB for eight years. In 2011, Rosa received a Blackboard Award for her excellence in teaching.

Leticia Gonzalez

Spanish PreKindergarten, Assistant Teacher

Leticia has been an assistant teacher at ISB for six years. Leticia holds Assistant Teacher Certification from both New York State and New York City College of Technology.

Sirika Yong

French PreKindergarten, Head Teacher

Sirika holds a MA in French as a Foreign Language from Stendhall III University and has six years of teaching experience.

Lanie Thomas

French PreKindergarten, Assistant Teacher

Lanie joined ISB as a Summer Camp teacher in 2012. She holds a degree from Broome Community College.

Katherine Huamani

Spanish Kindergarten, Head Teacher

Katherine holds a BA in Education and Political Science from Swarthmore College and has three years of experience teaching English to elementary and middle school students.

Angela Acevedo

Spanish Kindergarten, Assistant Teacher

Angela is originally from Colombia. She has been an assistant teacher at ISB for four years.

Emmanuelle Garcia-Guillen

French Kindergarten, Head Teacher

Emmanuelle holds a MA in Education from l’Académie de Montpellier and a BA from l’Université de Toulouse-Le Mirail.  Emmanuelle is currently working on completing a Masters in Psychology.  She has been teaching for over 10 years.

Nora Kurtz

French Kindergarten, Assistant Teacher

Nora joined ISB in 2013. She holds a Master 1 from Université Toulouse II- Le Mirail and has been working in education for five years.

Karina Bustamante

Spanish 1st Grade, Head Teacher

Originally from Peru, Karina has taught at various schools since 2000, when she received her Teaching Certification from Champagnat University. She also holds a certification in Special Education from The Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

Servane Arnaud

French 1st Grade, Head Teacher

Servane holds a Teaching Certification from IUFM Grenoble, France. Servane has five years of teaching experience.

Cecilia Gonzalez Ruiz

Spanish 2nd Grade, Head Teacher

Cecilia received her MA in Literacy Education from New York University and has over three years of classroom teaching experience. Prior to teaching at ISB, Cecilia taught elementary school in her home country of Panama.

Michele Genuard

French 2nd Grade, Head Teacher

Originally from France, Michele holds a MA in Teaching from Queens College. Before joining ISB, Michele taught at various schools on Long Island where she lives with her family.

Oscar Pau

Spanish 3rd Grade, Head Teacher

Oscar obtained his BA in Elementary School Teaching in 1996 from Spain’s Jaume I University. Oscar spent the majority of the last ten years as a head teacher in 1st-4th Grade classrooms in a Catalan/Spanish language immersion school in Spain. Oscar also holds a BA in ESL.

Amina Maine

French 3rd Grade, Head Teacher

Amina holds a MA in English Language, Literature and Civilization. She also holds a National Certification as an ESL teacher. Amina has five years’ teaching experience working with elementary, middle and high school students in Paris.

Helena Serrano Fernandez

Spanish 4th Grade, Head Teacher

Helena holds a BA in Primary English Education. Prior to joining ISB, Helena taught for three years in elementary schools in Spain and in England.

Claire Salzmann

French 4th Grade, Head Teacher

Claire holds a Master’s degree in Urban Geography from the University of Paris. Prior to ISB, Claire has 4 years of teaching experience. She has been a teacher for a middle school in France as well as for a high school in Paris.

Macarena Martin Caballero

Spanish 5th Grade, Head Teacher

Macarena has a BA in Elementary Education with a focus on English and has five years of classroom teaching experience. She has taught in several elementary schools in Spain at various grade levels.

Muriel Stallworth

French 5th Grade and PYP Coordinator

Muriel has been involved with ISB since its inception, first as a member of the Board of Directors and then as the Educational Director for three years before returning to the classroom. In addition to teaching, Muriel serves as ISB’s PYP Coordinator. Muriel received her Teaching Certification from École Normale de Saint Étienne.

Chloe Wilder

English, Kindergarten and 1st Grade

Chloe holds a MA in Bilingual/Bicultural Education from Teachers College. She has four years of teaching experience, including teaching in ISB’s Summer Camp program.

Elizabeth Machuca

English, 2nd Grade

Elizabeth holds a BA in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University as well as a State of Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate for Kindergarten through 6th Grade. Elizabeth is currently pursuing her MA for Childhood Literacy at Hunter College.

Ritika Patel

English, 3th Grade

Ritika holds a MA of Arts in Education from Arcadia University. She holds an elementary education Kindergarten Certification. Ritika has six years of teaching experience in 2nd and 4th grades.

Jenni Arcieri

English, 4th Grade

Jenni holds a MA in Child and Adolescent Literacy from Loyola Marymount University. She has seven years of experience teaching 4th and 5th grades.

Jaclyn Alexander

English, 5th Grade

Jaclyn holds a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and is currently pursuing an MFA in Fiction Writing. She has two years of experience teaching 5th and 6th grades.
