Katherine Huamani

Spanish Kindergarten, Head Teacher

Katherine holds a BA in Education and Political Science from Swarthmore College and has three years of experience teaching English to elementary and middle school students.

Angela Acevedo

Spanish Kindergarten, Assistant Teacher

Angela is originally from Colombia. She has been an assistant teacher at ISB for three years.

Emmanuelle Garcia-Guillen

French Kindergarten, Head Teacher

Emmanuelle holds a MA in Education from l’Académie de Montpellier and a BA from l’Université de Toulouse-Le Mirail.  Emmanuelle is currently working on completing a Masters in Psychology.  She has been teaching for over 10 years and is fluent in Spanish, French and English.

Deepti Dhir

French Kindergarten, Assistant Teacher

Deepti is a graduate of Mount Holyoke, where she majored in French. In addition to her studies, Deepti also spent a summer working with at a French language immersion program.

Karina Bustamante

Spanish 1st Grade, Head Teacher

Originally from Peru, Karina has taught at various schools since 2000, when she received her Teaching Certification from Champagnat University. She also holds a certification in Special Education from The Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

Bernadette Robine

French 1st Grade, Head Teacher

Bernadette began her teaching career in France and moved to the United States three years ago with her family. Bernadette received her Teaching Certification from IUFM Creteil, Val de Marne.

Cecilia Gonzalez Ruiz

Spanish 2nd Grade, Head Teacher

Cecilia received her MA in Literacy Education from New York University and has over three years of classroom teaching experience.  Prior to teaching at ISB, Cecilia taught elementary school in her home country of Panama.

Michele Genuard

French 2nd Grade, Head Teacher

Originally from France, Michele holds a MA in Teaching from Queens College. Before joining ISB, Michele taught at various schools on Long Island where she lives with her family.

Oscar Pau

Spanish 3rd Grade, Head Teacher

Oscar obtained his BA in Elementary School Teaching in 1996 from Spain’s Jaume I University. Oscar spent the majority of the last ten years as a head teacher in 1st-4th Grade classrooms in a Catalan/Spanish language immersion school in Spain. Oscar also recently obtained a BA in ESL.

Constance Du Bois

French 3rd Grade, Head Teacher

Constance holds a MA in French as a Foreign Language and Literature from the University of Paris III as well as a postgraduate degree in Didactics of the French as a Foreign Language from the University of Dijon in France.  Prior to joining ISB, Constance taught for over four years in several French elementary schools in Spain.

Helena Serrano Fernandez

Spanish 4th Grade, Head Teacher and Science (Kindergarten through 5th Grade)

Helena holds a BA in Primary English Education. Prior to joining ISB, Helena taught for three years in elementary schools in Spain and in England.

Julie Crinière

French 4th Grade, Head Teacher

Julie holds a MA in Education from Harvard University.  Julie most recently launched and taught at a small English speaking preschool in Tel Aviv.  Prior to her time in Tel Aviv, Julie taught at ISB for two years.

Macarena Martin Caballero

Spanish 5th Grade, Head Teacher

Macarena has a BA in Elementary Education with a focus on English and has five years of classroom teaching experience.  She has taught in several elementary schools in Spain at various grade levels.  She speaks English, Spanish and Catalan.

Muriel Stallworth

French 5th Grade and PYP Coordinator

Muriel has been involved with ISB since its inception, first as a member of the Board of Directors and then as the Educational Director for three years before returning to the classroom.  In addition to teaching, Muriel will continue to serve as ISB’s PYP Coordinator. Muriel received her Teaching Certification from École Normale de Saint Étienne in 1988.  She is also a parent of two ISB students.

Cathleen Forrest

English, Kindergarten and 1st Grade

Cathleen holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Child Development and a Washington State Certification as well as a MA in French Studies.  Cathleen will be entering her eighth year as a classroom teacher.  Prior to joining ISB, Cathleen taught at the Lycée Français of New York and the International School of Lausanne in Switzerland.

Miriam Butterman

English, 2nd and 3rd Grade

Miriam holds a MA in English Education from New York University.  She also holds an International Baccalaureate Teachers Certification and is currently pursuing her New York State Professional Certificate. Miriam has taught in several elementary schools in Panama and New York for over six years. She is also the author of “Moon Living Abroad Panama - a guide for expatriates” and has extensive writing experience. She is bilingual in Spanish and English.

Kimberly Mintzer

English, 4th Grade and Academic Support

Kimberly holds a BA in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin. She received her Bilingual Teaching Credentials from the California State University. Kimberly has four years of classroom teaching experience in a variety of elementary schools in the U.S., Mexico and Ecuador, including an immersion school in Portland, Oregon. Kimberly speaks Spanish and English.

Alison Genovese

English, 5th Grade

Alison received her MA in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge and has been teaching for over 10 years.  Alison joined ISB in its second year and has taught different elementary grades during her five year tenure, this spring she received an Honorable Mention in the 2011 Blackboard Teaching Awards.

Lucia Fernandez Schnupp

Spanish Language Coordinator

Lucia joined ISB in 2009 through a program of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain’s intern program. Lucia holds a BA of Humanities in English Linguistics and Literature from the University of Alcala in Spain and has three years of teaching experience. She is currently pursuing her PhD in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language.

Sabine Massoma Toco

French Language Coordinator

Sabine was born in Cameroon and raised in Paris, France. Sabine holds a MA in Social and Economic Administration from the University of Paris XIII. Prior to coming to ISB, Sabine taught for seven years at Lyceum Kennedy.

Carolina Bermudez Diaz de Alda

Spanish Art

Carolina holds a MA in Art Education from New York University. She has taught art to preschool and elementary students for over ten years. Carolina also holds a BA of Fine Art and Modern Dance from Hunter College.

Jean Louis Frenk

French Art

Jean Louis holds a BFA in Ceramic Arts and has worked as a ceramist for the last two decades. Jean Louis has seven years of art classroom teaching experience, four of which he spent teaching at a school in Zurich.

Alvaro Perez-Solis

Spanish Physical Education

Alvaro holds a MA in Physical Education from University of Extremadura in Spain and a Masters in High Performance Team Sports from the University of Granada. In 2010, Alvaro obtained the New Jersey Teacher Certification in Physical Education. Alvaro has spent the last ten years coaching and teaching physical education classes at all levels.

Nicolas Sale

French Physical Education

Nicolas has a MA in Science and Technology of Physical Education and Sporting Activities from the University of Paris. Nicolas has over 15 years experience teaching in the field of physical education and is an established rugby and wrestling athlete.

Shelley Carver

Music

Shelley holds a MA in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and also holds a BFA in Piano Performance.  Shelley has been teaching music in elementary schools for over twelve years, both in public and private schools.

Itzel Barreto

ISB Teaching Fellow

For the 2011-2012 school year, ISB launched a Teaching Fellows program designed to help our school attract and retain faculty who are committed to furthering their educational goals. This year’s Teaching Fellow has been awarded to Itzel Barreto, who taught in our Kindergarten program for the last two years and who is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Special Education at Hunter College.
