ISB Parents Association

The ISB Parents Association (PA) is an important component in the life of the school.

Led by elected co-chairs, the PA is committed to supporting the school and its students and to increasing parent awareness about the school programs and activities. All ISB parents are members of the Parent Association and all are encouraged to attend PA meetings and events throughout the school year. The PA hosts a variety of events, including signature events such as the International Feast and End of Year Picnic, as well as informative workshops, discussion groups, film screenings, and more!

Parents Association Committees

The PA has five working committees to help support ISB’s mission: Library, Staff Appreciation, Community Service, Diversity, and Green Dragons. These committees are parent-run and are overseen by the PA in conjunction with ISB staff members.

This committee helps provide students with opportunities to give back to our local community and communities abroad. Members help organize service projects for students in Pre-K 3-8th Grade, including the Global Service Initiative and the Backpack Drive. To join the Community Exchange Committee, please email communityexchange@isbrooklyn.org.

The Diversity Committee is dedicated to promoting and advocating for a diverse space for our children. Diversity of all kinds makes our school the special place that it is, and it is one of our core values. This committee helps to educate the community on diversity-related issues by hosting workshops and events that showcase and celebrate the diversity within our community. To join the Diversity Committee, please email diversitycommittee@isbrooklyn.org.

The Library Committee proudly supports our Multilingual Library through a range of initiatives and activities. Whether you are interested in organizing special projects or providing day-to-day assistance, there are many ways to get involved. Our committee members can choose which projects they are most passionate about, providing a fantastic opportunity to become familiar with our diverse collection. In partnership with the Diversity Committee, the Library Committee works closely with the Librarians to coordinate and promote various events, including author and illustrator visits, book drives, and the ISB Multicultural Book Club. Additionally, our members play an essential role in the library’s day-to-day activities, helping with tasks such as book shelving, cataloging, and inventory management. If you want to join this dynamic and supportive group, send an email to librarycommittee@isbrooklyn.org

ISB Staff members play a critical role in the success of our school and our students. The Staff Appreciation Committee ensures the entire ISB Staff feels recognized for the hard work they do by organizing special holiday and end-of-year lunches, monthly breakfasts, treats, and raffles to thank those who educate and care for our children. To join the Staff Appreciation Committee, please email staffappreciation@isbrooklyn.org.

The Green Dragons Committee is dedicated to reducing waste at ISB. In addition to reducing waste, the committee also strives to raise awareness among students and the school community at large and connect ISB with local “green” initiatives. The committee complements the existing ISB staff task force around green initiatives and sustainability by recommending ways the PA and school activities could be more green and strive to attain zero waste. To join the Green Dragons Committee, please email greendragons@isbrooklyn.org.
