How We Teach
Our Language Immersion Model
The full-immersion approach in the early Preschool years lays the important foundations of second language learning. In Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4, 100% of main classroom instruction is taught in the target language (French or Spanish). English instruction begins with three hours per week in Kindergarten and gradually increases to reach a 50:50 program in 4th and 5th Grade.
In Middle School, students who have been following the Spanish and French track, as well as students who enter the program with a native-level proficiency, continue to build mastery of their target language while beginning to study a third language.

International Baccalaureate (IB) & IB Profile for Learning
ISB delivers an inquiry-based, academically rigorous and culturally rich program, incorporating practices and materials from the International Baccalaureate, French, Spanish, and New York State standards. The IB programmes are committed to the development of students according to the IB learner profile. It describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go hand in hand with academic success, and implies a commitment to help all members of the school community to learn to respect themselves, others, and the world around them.
